Bruce Hal Sills of Murfreesboro, TN passed away January20, 2025, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital with family by his side. Bruce was born July 29, 1947, in Model, TN, the son of Bruce Erwin Sills and Norma Daphine Sills. Bruce served in the Army as a Radio Message Router receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. After discharging from the Army, he began working as a Civil Service Employee with the Postal Service in Donelson, TN for 34 years when he retired at the age of 55. Bruce loved riding his bike from Nashville to Dover and from Nashville to East Tennessee, looking at birds, fishing and just spending time outdoors. He had been battling Dementia for the past 10 years. And was residing at American House assisted living in Murfreesboro, TN the past 2 years.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father Bruce Erwin Sills, mother Norma Daphine Sills and his daughter Jennifer Sills. He leaves behind brothers Tim Sills (Linda), James “Cooter” Sills and Paul Sills all of Dover, TN, and sister Rebecca Thomason (Rayburn) of Puryear, TN, an abundance of nieces, nephews along with great nieces and nephews. He was always the fun uncle and made you laugh at his jokes all the time. He was a good storyteller and loved spending time with family.
A memorial service will be held at Anglin Funeral Home Saturday, January 25, 2025 with family receiving friends starting at 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with service at 1:00 pm with Bro. James Bates performing the service. There will be no graveside service due to cremation.
In lieu of flowers the family asked to make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Bruce.
