Bill Atkins

July 22, 1926 — February 12, 2022

William “Bill” Atkins, 95, passed away on February 12, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee. Bill was the second child of Everett S. and Wilton Atkins. He served in the United States Navy during and after World War II. In 1948 he married his beloved wife, Betty. They moved to Michigan where he worked for Royall, Incorporated, in Ann Arbor, retiring as general manager. After retirement, Bill and Betty returned to Tennessee. They were blessed to celebrate 60 years of marriage before she passed. He was an avid golfer (achieving 3 hole-in-ones), enjoyed watching Michigan football, was a member of Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ, and loved travelling and spending time with his family.

Preceding Bill in death are wife Betty Jo Atkins; infant son James Lee Atkins; brothers Earl Atkins and James Atkins. Survivors include sons, Joe Atkins (Rita) and Jon Atkins (Christie); sisters Anita Cobb and Doris Cathey, brother Arvel Atkins (Barbara); sister-in-law Pat Atkins; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A family graveside service, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, at Green Hill Cemetery, Bumpus Mills, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Foundation for Prader-Willi Research (340 South Lemon Avenue, #3620, Walnut, California, 91789) or The Autism Community in Action (2222 Martin Street, Suite 140, Irvine, California 92612).

Those attending the service to asked to wear a face mask.
