Betty Lawrence, age 57, of Green Creek, Cape May Court House, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. She was born in Cadiz, KY to Wade and Mary Shemwell and grew up in Dover, TN. She later received a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Austin Peay State University of Clarksville, TN. She lived in Clarksville, TN, Louisville, KY, Eatontown, NJ among other places while being married to a career US Army soldier. Upon his retirement they moved to this area in 1997 where she worked as a Nurse Supervisor for Holy Redeemer. Betty was an army wife and very patriotic. She had many interests including fishing, sewing, reading science fiction and mythology, and computer gaming. Mostly she loved her family and was a great mother. She was predeceased by her son Matthew in 2005. Betty is survived by her husband of 32 years, Steven; her daughters Alayna and Kaitlyn ; brother Ronald Shemwell and sisters Sherry Flint and Eileen Muller; her uncle Bobby and aunt Mae Page; nephew Andrew and nieces Tasha, Lauren, and Kristen; as well as her cousin and best friend, Elaine Luton. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Philips to officiate. Burial will follow in the Hendon Cemetery, Land Between the Lakes. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of service Wednesday at the Church.
