Barbara Bruton

Barbara Olene (Hicks) Bruton, age 78 of Dover, Tennessee, passed away August 30, 2023. She was born October 8, 1944, the daughter of Charlie and Lucy Keel Hicks. She is preceded in death by her husband; Charles G. Bruton; brothers Walton Hicks, and Charlie Hicks, Jr. and sisters Reva Gray, Loretta Odom, and Margaret Sellers. She is survived by her son, Charles Galen Bruton, Jr., and daughter, Brandy Balthrop (Sammy); grandchildren, Jacqueline Bruton, Charlie Balthrop and Ellie Balthrop.

She and her husband managed Oak Point Restaurant during the 1970’s and 80’s. She later worked at Paris Landing State Park where she retired. Barbara cherished her family and lived for her grandchildren who brought her the most happiness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Fort Donelson Memorial United Methodist Church or Rose Valley Church.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 beginning at 12:00 pm and continue until the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Bro. Willie Lyle officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are Clay Chery, Fritz Gray, George Sexton, Billy Clay Cherry, Joe Johannas and Marty Blane.
