Alma Vaughan

Alma Smith Vaughan, 82 of Indian Mound, TN passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Walking Horse Meadows in Clarksville, TN. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 2 pm at Anglin Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound, TN. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service.

Alma was born on October 19, 1940, in Stewart County TN, daughter of the late Glenn and Clara Byrd Smith. Mrs. Vaughan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved life with her family and enjoyed being outdoors caring for her flowers, feeding hummingbirds, and taking in sunsets whenever possible. Anyone who ever saw her with her pets could instantly see her gift with animals. She and her husband, Gilbert, founded two local businesses, Rick’s BBQ, and the Garden Gate Nursery. Prior to this, she spent several years as an optical lens assistant at an optometry office. Alma was a person of deep faith and a member of Wyatt’s Chapel Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 55 years, Gilbert Vaughan, and her brothers Dalton Smith and Edward Smith. Survivors include daughter, Sherry Crockarell (Ricky), son, Burton Vaughan (Shannon), sister, Nancy Hurst, grandchildren, Todd Crockarell (Stephanie) and Reagan Vaughan, and great grandchildren, Blane Crockarell and Hollis Crockarell.
