Betty and family, I have hesitated on writing this but I want everyone to know the good good man Robert was and is. I have been going to see Robert on Wednesday’s and left town for thanksgiving and when I came back they said he was really sick. When I came back he looked at me and said where you been?? I said I know all your kids are here and I wanted you to spend time with them. I crawled up in the bed with him and played him music and showed him the videos and he said I don’t like country music but I like yours. He was so funny and sweet up till the end I didn’t know Robert that well but he became my buddy. I didn’t want to walk in thumping a Bible I just said hey buddy tell me bout Robert??? He did and the talks we had and love for his Country and family can not be put into words. I’ll miss you my buddy and our talks and love of Country, family and history. I THANK YOU SIR FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY!!!! I’ll aleays remember your sweet sweet voice. Your best buddy, Deb

My heart of broken at the loss of my brother. We had so much fun playing together growing up...especially playing in the dirt..."driving" our tiny cars on the hills and roads made with small mounds of soil, always with motor sounds! He was 15 when I left home and our lives went in different directions. I didn't see Bobby for many years and when I did, he was always so loving and sweet to me.
Our father, Spence Ledford, died in 1994.
Then, there was a long time when he disappeared.
I couldn't find him. Our sister, Doris, had died and I especially wanted him to know. Finally, I found him on MySpace and we reconnected. Since then, we kept up on social media. And, we had a long conversation a few weeks before he died.
Our mother, Helen Ledford, is 92 years old and, unfortunately, suffering from severe dementia. In some ways, that's a blessing because she will not have to endure the devastating grief of losing a child.
Unfortunately, I'm flying to Thailand January 2.
I'm so sorry I cannot be at Bobby's services and give my personal condolences to all of those who loved him, especially his children. I will be there in spirit.
May he rest in peace.
