Obituary for Norma Askew Cook

Mrs. Norma Lorene (Askew) Cook, age 80 of Dover, TN, went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2021. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 10:00 am and continue until the hour of a celebration of life service at 11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home with Brother William Gray officiating. Burial at 1:00 pm on Wednesday at Kentucky Veterans West Cemetery, Hopkinsville, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Norma entered this life on August 15, 1941, in Model, TN, daughter to the late Thomas and Winnie Askew. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Darrell Cook, and sons Randall (Lisa) Cook of Lovettsville, VA, Joel (Kathy) Cook of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Darren (Lucynda) Cook of Dover, TN. Norma also leaves behind four grandsons: Joshua Cook, Brody Cook, Cody Cook, and Ethan Massie, two granddaughters: Mackenzie Cook and Darryll Cook, four sisters: Janell Atkins, Jean Carl, Vanetta Stavely and Lauretta Askew, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norma was born and raised in Model, TN (present day LBL). She was the oldest of five girls, married Darrell Cook in 1959 and traveled the world as a devoted Air Force spouse. When Darrell retired, they moved back to Dover where she was an active member of First Baptist Church. Norma always put others first and she lived to serve. She worked at the Steam Plant in Cumberland City, was a caretaker of adults with disabilities at Progressive Directions and assisted the elderly as a driver for Mid Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
