Jackie Dean Downs, age 84, of Indian Mound, TN, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Ormond Nursing Home in Destrehan, Louisiana. He was born November 13, 1935 in Indian Mound, TN, son of the late Leonard and Robbie Coleman Downs. Jackie was a member and deacon of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, retired as a supervisor with Shell Oil of Wood River, IL, and was a retired volunteer for the Stewart County Fire and Rescue.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Carol Sue Downs, brother, Bobby Downs, and sister, Helen Grasty. He is survived by daughters, Candee Rozycki (Eric), Destrehan, LA, Penny Shea (Jim), St. Charles, MO, brother, James Downs, grandchildren, Rhiannon Gautreaux (A.J.), Zachary Rozycki (Aubrey), James M. Shea (Andrea), Holly Shea, great grandchildren, Delaina and Danica Gautreaux, Katey and Lucas Rozycki, and Alexandria and Charlotte Shea.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Melvin Dunaway officiating and burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be at 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 22nd. Zachary Rozycki, AJ Gautreaux, James M. Shea, Donnie Downs, Dale Hamm, and William Beasley will serve as pallbearers.
