Surrounded by his loving family, Gilbert Allen Cook, 86, of Bumpus Mills, departed this earth on the wings of Angels to meet his heavenly Father on April 25, 2021. He was born on April 9, 1935 in Lawrence, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his parents Otto Shaw and Della Aaron, step-father Wayne Cook and sister Loretta King.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Jane Cook; children, Pamela (John) Gerkin, Allen (Yvonne) Cook, and Loretta (Danny) Taylor. Cherishing many happy memories with “Paps” are his grandchildren; Kristi Ripley, Johnny Gerkin, Jonathan Gerkin, Samantha Gibson, Matthew Cook, Danielle Earhart and Nicholas Cook. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is survived by a sister, Karen Lawrence.

He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War.

A graveside service will be conducted by Bro. David Whitehead on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the family cemetery in Bumpus Mills, TN. Pallbearers will be John Gerkin, Danny Taylor, Matthew Cook, Nicholas Cook, Jonathan Gerkin. John Gerkin, Jr and Josh Gibson.
