Obituary for George Elwin Heflin

Mr. George Elwin Heflin, age 86 of Dover, TN, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Diversicare of Dover. He was born October 6, 1934 in Big Rock, TN, to the late George Alton Heflin and Viola Pearl Wallace Heflin. Mr. Heflin served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Iron Mountain Masonic Lodge #544 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Dotson and LaRue Heflin; sister, and brother-in-law, Linda and Phil Horsey; and step grandson, Roger Milton, Jr.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 65 years, Patricia Marshall Heflin; their daughters, Sheila Milton (Roger) and Tonya Fitzhugh (Don); brother, Bruce Heflin (Barbara); and sister, Brenda Atkins (Kenneth). He was blessed with four grandchildren, Garett Wall (Becky), Travis Wall (Jill), Trish Wright, Abby Eaker (Spenser); eight great grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Judson, Isaac, Mollie, Eli, Oliver, and Noah; step granddaughter, Jennifer White, and four step great grandchildren.

Private services with military honors will be held, with his grandsons, Garett and Travis Wall and Bro. Joe Shannon officiating. Mr. Heflin will be laid to rest at Stewart County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Garett Wall, Travis Wall, Spenser Eaker, Jeff Heflin, Tyler Heflin, Clint Marshall, John Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be David Marshall, Billy Marshall, and Danny Threatt.
