Obituary for Frances Byrd Wyatt Riles

Mrs. Frances Byrd Wyatt Riles, age 90 of Memphis, TN, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. She was born June 6, 1930 in Clarksville, TN to the late Omer and Emma Lewis Smith.

Mrs. Riles was a member of First Baptist Church of Dover as well as a children’s Sunday School teacher.
Passionate about education, she earned several degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Master of Arts degree, and an Education Specialist degree. For thirty years, she served the children of Stewart County, teaching 7th and 8th grade math and as Principal of Dover Elementary School for ten years, until her retirement in 1998. She was a Career Ladder Three teacher and a published author of, Concepts of Area in Mathematics.

After retirement, she moved to Pensacola, FL where she volunteered at the local hospital performing clerical tasks and assisting the nursing staff. Her long life and good health may be attributed to her love for exercising. She was an avid reader, and her favorite pass time was working crossword and sudoku puzzles. But her greatest achievement and joy, was her family, she was a proud wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Grady Byrd, Jr., second husband, Paul Wyatt, and third husband, James Monroe Riles.
Mrs. Riles is survived by her beloved children, Emily Anderson (Marvin), James Lewis Byrd (Karen), Timothy Lane Byrd (April), John Lynn Byrd (Stevi); grandchildren; Payton Byrd, Tonya Byrd, Kara Byrd-Hite, Amy Byrd-Hardin, Sara Byrd-Somers, Jake Byrd, Haylee Byrd, Arianna Byrd, Mark Byrd, Jerod Byrd, Lauren Emily Byrd, Bradley Earhart, Benjamin Earhart, great grandchildren; Mary Byrd, Robert Byrd, J.T. Byrd, Jonathan Steele, Mason Hite, Kyle Byrd, Jessica Kent, Abby Morgan, Addison Tyler, Braxton Byrd, Braylin Byrd, Chance Malone, Alec Wolf, Samuel Byrd, Ryan Byrd, Quinn Byrd, Reagan Byrd, Whitney Earhart, Elizabeth Earhart, great-great grandchildren; D.J. Byrd, Luke Byrd, Raeleigh Byrd and sister; Emma Jean Capps-McLynn (Ben).

Visitation for Mrs. Riles will be on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 10, with Bro. Joe Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Dover, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
