Obituary for Dunning Cheatham

Mr. Dunning Lee Cheatham, age 69, of Dover, TN, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born July 16, 1951 in Clarksville, TN, to the late Ople L. and Jeanetta Hudson Cheatham.

Dunning was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and scouting, eventually becoming an Eagle Scout. He was also very fond of cycling on his Harley Davidson.

Dunning loved his community where he resided his entire life, and will truly be missed by many lives he touched. He was public service oriented and he was honored to serve the City of Dover as alderman for 3 terms and 2 terms as Mayor of Dover, never having lost an election. Dunning was a businessman, second generation owner and operator of Cheatham TV and Furniture Store of Dover. He was responsible for bringing TV Satellite service to Dover. He was a Mason and served at Iron Mountain Lodge. He was a faithful servant and member of Ft. Donelson Memorial United Methodist Church.

Dunning is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ann Wallace Cheatham, their son, Lee Cheatham; brother, Dr. David Cheatham, Clarksville, TN; sister, Lisa Barrow, Simpsonville, SC and his nieces and nephew.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Link Hall at Rose Ella Village, 201 Rose Ella Dr. Dover, TN.
