Lieutenant Colonel Donald Lynn Young, US Army, Retired, age 71, of Dover, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at St. Thomas West in Nashville TN. He was born April, 01, 1948 to R.A. Young and Bernice M. Young. Donald grew up in Valley Springs, AR. He graduated from Arkansas Tech and then joined the U.S. Army where he served 20 plus years and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of Fort Donelson United Methodist Church, Dover Kiwanis Club, and the Stewart County Historical Society. He was also a University of Tennessee Extensions Master Gardener.
Including his parents, He is preceded in death by his sister Janie Paul. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Filson Young, son, Britt Stevens Young (Marie), Dover, TN, sister, Doris Phifer (Bill) Harrison, AR, stepdaughter, Regena Nunn, stepson, Tim Filson (Shelia) and six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Don Bailey, Bro. Robert Webster, and Britt Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 20, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Devin Nunn, Colin Nunn, Tim Filson, Brian Pledger, Jason Pledger, Grant Pledger with Honorary pallbearers Mark Nunn, Bobby Blunk, Jeff Pund, Malia Parnell, Wes Phifer and Ronnie Jones.
