Obituary for Cheryl Milliken

Cheryl Lee Sholar Milliken, 67, of Dover, TN peacefully passed from this life on March 26, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.

Cheryl was born on June 1, 1954 to Rymon and Louise Page Sholar. She attended and graduated from Stewart Co. High School in 1972. While in High School, she met the love of her life, Alfred Ray Milliken. They married on December 12, 1972 and spent 49 wonderful years together. In 1974, the family was blessed with the birth of son Eric Ray.

Cheryl spent 19 years working as the City Recorder in Cumberland City, TN. It was a labor of love as she attended the needs of the citizens of the town. Everyone knew that “Miss Cheryl” would fix their problems. She retired in 2021 and quickly and enthusiastically adjusted to a more relaxed life with Alfred and special dog Toby.

Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family deeply and cherished time spent with both her immediate and big extended family. She was the host for family reunions and the go-to person and best friend for everyone in the family.

Rain or shine, cold or hot, she and Alfred were fixtures at Eric’s football and baseball games as he grew. Later, they did exactly the same, following their grandsons Hunter and Payton as they played sports around the state. Whether it was baseball or football, they were always there, offering encouragement and cheering them on.

She was a member of Fort Donelson Pentecostal Church. She lived her Christian faith every day in acts of kindness and love for others.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rymon and Louise Sholar, her mother and father-in-law, Pete and Gerlene Milliken, sister-in-law, Rose Sholar, brother-in-law, Harold Phillips and nephew, Jason Sholar.

Cheryl is survived by devoted husband, Alfred, loving son Eric, beloved daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Ann (Libby), and beloved grandsons, Hunter and Payton. She cherished her special relationship and bond with Libby.

She is also survived by sisters, Nelda Crain (James), Benton, KY and Faye Phillips, Murray, KY; and brothers, Rymon Sholar, Jr. (Felicia), Clarksville, TN; Ron Sholar (Linda), Stillwater, OK; Rodger Sholar, Bumpus Mills, TN; and Kenny Sholar, Danville, KY. She was much loved and will be remembered by everyone in her family including a host of adoring nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
